Biography
Jane Crofts, Founder and CEO of Data To The People, is an internationally recognised consultant, teacher, and advocate for data literacy. In 2018, Jane launched Databilities®, the world’s first evidence-based data literacy competency framework, at the United Nations World Data Forum. Jane sits on the Advisory Board of the Data Literacy Project, alongside the world’s most respected leaders in data literacy.

This presentation examines the urgent need to build and nurture data literacy, in all ages and communities, so we can not only participate – but thrive – in the rapidly evolving, data – driven economy.

Data literacy will become the foundation of everything we do; every job that we fill and every skill that we build. We don’t all need to be experts in data, but we do all need to know how to read, write and comprehend data.
We need to understand how to read and interpret the information that is coming at us at a lightning-fast pace, so we are confident and able to determine right from wrong, real from fake. We need to be aware and understand how we are all individually constantly creating data in this ever-increasingly connected world, so we can be curious and protect what needs to be protected and share what we can afford.
This presentation will discuss a range of case studies from public and private sector organisations who have adopted Databilities®, our data literacy competency framework, to measure, map and develop data literacy competencies within their workforces and communities. Databilities® has been internationally recognised as a key framework for data literacy competencies.
