Biography

Dr. Donald J. Green (Don) became the fourth president of Georgia Highlands College on September 8, 2014. Prior to his presidency at GHC, Don served as the vice president for extended and international operations and dean of the College of Professional and Technological Studies at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. He also has experience in a private university, in manufacturing, and his own firm advising corporations, governmental organizations, and educational institutions. Don’s principle areas of work are developing unique degree programs for future labor markets, increasing access for underrepresented populations, and improving educational services to expand retention and graduation. His mission is to see higher education become more accessible and entrepreneurial.

Don has served on boards of directors for the Rome/Floyd Chamber of Commerce, Cartersville/Bartow Chamber of Commerce, The World Literacy Foundation, west Michigan Hispanic Association, various economic development organizations, and various YMCAs.

Since joining GHC, Don has taken a multifaceted approach to bringing GHC to the next level; increasing access, improving student success measures, and dramatically increasing graduation rates while building curriculum to advance the local economy.

Don holds a Doctorate in Human Resource Development and Leadership from Western Michigan University, a Master of Labor and Human Resource Management from The Ohio State University, and a Bachelor of Public Administration from Michigan State University. He is blessed with an awesome wife, Cathy, and three children.”
