“New generation, new methods in literacy improvement – ICT at edutainment’s service”

The impact of new technological mediums on the young population is indisputable, as well as the growing popularity of digital devices among children. The sources of media content have multiplied, and this affects young children’s reading habits and the way they listen to stories.
BOOKR Kids’ applications help to identify and develop potential new methods that support reading education by communicating classic storybooks in new, more attractive ways for children, while also building on contemporary children’s literature and illustration trends.

The impact of new technological mediums on the young population is indisputable, as well as the growing popularity of digital devices among children. The sources of media content have multiplied, the range of mass-media “storytellers” has expanded, and this affects young children’s reading habits and the way they listen to stories.
It is the responsibility of creators, publishers, developers, research and education to identify and develop potential new methods that support good reading education. BOOKR Kids’ applications help to achieve this goal by communicating classic storybooks in new, more attractive ways for children, while also building on contemporary children’s literature and illustration trends.

As the company’s application of interactive books are placed in the category of “targeted” and “traditional” reader involvement, they are perfect for preserving and spreading reading and storytelling traditions, which are essential for the reader to be able to connect and have a deeper, more profound experience with the story.

Displaying stories with still and moving images, BOOKR apps inspire even the youngest users to learn about different types and levels of both verbal and visual language.

Empirical research conducted in 2016-2017 by the JGYPK TOKI Art Research Group of the University of Szeged has shown that BOOKR Kids’ interactive books that offer new language, visual, communication, performative, etc. qualities can sustain the attention of the recipient in the long run and can be successfully incorporated into the process of child rearing, education and self-improvement. The studies were done on kindergarten aged children with normal abilities as well as hearing impaired children, and also the educators who mediated the tales.

BOOKR keeps researching the trends of literacy and how they can answer current needs and problems with their interactive story applications.
