Mohammad Asad is the Information Communication Technology Officer. He Joined EMPHNET in March 2016, He is currently working within the ICT Unit of the Center of Excellence for Applied Epidemiology. He has a vast experience in developing new systems and applications, creating forms for online data collection tools, managing and developing websites, analyzing data, as well as the development of dashboards and mobile applications.

Throughout his career, he has provided ICT support for the implementation of several projects in Jordan, Iraq, Morocco, UAE, Yemen, and Sudan. He has built a strong network of professionals during regional conferences he had attended where he was part of the team. In addition to that, he has been selected from the first cohort as GAPMIL Youth Ambassador, he is working now to promote and share knowledge related to MIL with other youth online and offline enabling them to participate meaningfully in sustainable development in their societies.

Mohammad Asad holds a BSc in Computer Science which he had received from the Hashemite University. He has also participated in the “Best Business Plan award 2016 from TEJ Project” and he won the “Best Computer Software prize 2018” from Philadelphia University.

Learning management systems and the availability of knowledge

Learning Management Systems (LMS) are widely used for educational purposes and as we now in the digital age, most of our knowledge resources become digitized, sustaining skilled developing and providing top quality coaching courses. However, it has tangible impact on the communities as an easy access platform provides knowledge and achieves SDG (4): TARGET 4.A: Education Facilities and Learning Environments.

LMS allows several benefits that modern students find attractive. Firstly, it offers considerable flexibility, as well as the ability to go at one’s own place, to study anytime and anywhere. For many students, the recent inclusion of LMS in higher education programs has made college attainable. In addition, online colleges have had a tremendous impact on education.

The LMS is an online platform that has good number of different courses that covers many areas like health, technology, etc.). it can be accessed remotely with no physical interaction to the course by attending remotely to the sessions of any course.

The LMS platforms provides easy access to the knowledge especially for any mother have childcare or eldercare obligations or any employee that cannot take time away from his current job. Also, in the case of having physical course, the course may be offered at a location that is not feasible to attend for political reasons or hard to reach by people that might have certain disability and that will be hard on him, for those reasons the availability of LMS made the life easier.

A major point that achieve the educational goal for LMS that because it allows many students to pursue education who would not otherwise be able to do so due to other responsibilities, students who pursue online courses using LMS are highly motivated, curious, and willing to take responsibility for their own learning process. In addition, while it may seem counter intuitive, LMS offers a considerable degree of personal interaction because students are often encouraged to personally contact their instructors or facilitators through email, phone, or Skype in order to touch and ensure that they have understood course goals, materials and assignments.
