Stephen Tugwell

Steve has been working in education for 25 years. It all started after Harvard (‘94), while pursuing a rock band dream in NYC when the day job at an independent school won him over. This led to an MEd in Elementary Ed. with a Creative Arts in Learning focus at Lesley University, followed by teaching gigs in public and independent schools on both coasts, in Massachusetts and Oregon.

He moved back to his home province of Nova Scotia, Canada in 2003 and has continued his commitment to education and music at Sacred Heart School of Halifax ever since, first as an elementary teacher, then as founding faculty and dean of students at Fountain Academy (SH boys’ high school), and then back in elementary as principal. Steve (a.k.a. Mr. T.) continues to dedicate his life energy to making music, inspiring others and honouring the joy and the wonder of childhood.
